    <pushing away>

    Today after church, Fr. Shoenbacher pulled some girl about my age aside outside and told her that what she was wearing was inappropriate. I didn't hear exactly what he said, but by looking at her, all I could think would be that maybe he thought her pants were too tight. This was the first time I'd actually witnessed him reprimanding someone. I told this story to Emily and Alex, and Emily said that she would've been so mad - and that he was a bastard, and he's the kind of priest that makes her not want to go to church. I feel opposite - if he had said that to me, I would've been ashamed, not mad. I feel like while this is harsh, he has the authority to do it. He's the kind of priest that makes me want to go to church - even though he's definitely a dying breed. It was harsh, no doubt, to single her out, but that's what I want. The church needs to be harsher, and stricter, more aware of its duties.
